Redrawn privacy policy

The short version: your drawings stay on your phone unless you share one. What leaves it is what is needed to process a purchase, the advertising data described under Advertising, plus anonymous crash reports and anonymous usage data, including your scores, that help us fix and improve the game. You can turn the usage data off in Settings. Unless you have Redrawn+ or a lifetime purchase, Redrawn also shows non-personalized ads from Google.

This policy covers Redrawn on iOS and Android, including distribution through Apple's App Store and Google Play.

What stays on your device

Your sketches, your best attempts and your settings are stored on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them. Your scores are stored there too, and while Share usage data is on, each score is also sent with the usage data described below.

What is collected

Redrawn has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email address or location. None of the data below is linked to your identity, used to track you across other apps or websites, or sold. Apart from the ad requests described under Advertising, we do not share any data for advertising.

Crash reports

Sentry crash reporting is enabled for every installation of Redrawn, so that we find out about crashes without you having to tell us. A crash report contains the error and the stack trace that produced it, an installation identifier, the version of Redrawn you are running, and basic device information such as your device model and operating system version.

The installation identifier is not your name, Apple ID, Google account, email or advertising identifier. Crash reports cannot be turned off.

Sentry stores crash reports on servers in the United States and processes them on our behalf under its own privacy policy.

Usage data, which you can turn off

Redrawn uses PostHog to understand how the game is played: which rounds are started and abandoned, how scores fall, whether people come back. This is on by default. To turn it off, open Settings in Redrawn and switch off Share usage data. Turning it off stops new events and discards anything not yet sent.

PostHog receives:

  • what happened in the game: a round started, an attempt submitted with its score, a round abandoned, a score shared, a purchase screen opened or a pack bought, and which screen you are on;
  • an anonymous device ID that PostHog generates for your install (not your name, Apple ID, Google account, email or advertising identifier);
  • basic technical information its software sends with each event: your device model and manufacturer, device type, operating system name and version, the Redrawn version and build, your screen size, and your language and time zone.

We do not send your drawings, your sketches or anything you type. PostHog stores this on servers in the European Union and is configured to discard the IP address the data arrives from, so we do not collect your location. It processes this on our behalf under its own privacy policy.

Purchases

When you buy a pack or Redrawn+, or restore a purchase, Redrawn uses RevenueCat to check the purchase with Apple or Google and to remember that you own it. RevenueCat receives:

  • an anonymous app user ID that RevenueCat generates for your install (not your name, Apple ID, Google account or email);
  • your purchase history for Redrawn: which products were bought, when, and the store transaction identifiers needed to validate them;
  • basic technical information that RevenueCat's software sends, such as your device type and operating system version.

This data is used to unlock what you bought, to restore it when you reinstall, and to show us sales figures in RevenueCat's dashboard. It is not used to track you across other apps or websites and it is not sold.

RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy and terms, and stores it on Amazon Web Services servers in the United States. Apple or Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy; we never see your payment details.

Advertising

Redrawn shows ads from Google AdMob in two places: a native ad in a card on the Home cover, and optional rewarded videos. You choose whether to watch a rewarded video; watching one unlocks one round of a locked drawing. Buying Redrawn+ or a lifetime purchase removes ads.

Every ad request is non-personalized. Redrawn does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

To serve and measure ads, Google processes information about your device and your interactions with ads, under its own privacy policy. Google explains how it uses data from apps that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before any ads are served. You can change your choice at any time from Ad privacy in Settings.

Ad events (an ad loaded, shown, opened or failed, and the revenue it earned) are sent to RevenueCat for analytics. This happens whether or not Share usage data is on.

How long it is kept

Purchase records are kept while Redrawn supports App Store or Google Play purchases, so that a purchase can be restored. You can ask us to delete the RevenueCat record for your install at any time (see below); doing so means the purchase can no longer be restored through Redrawn, though the store's own record of the transaction is unaffected.

Crash reports and usage data are kept for as long as they are useful for fixing and improving the game, under the retention period set on our account with each provider, and are deleted sooner on request.

Sharing a score

When you share a score from an album, Show it off makes an image of your sketch beside the real one, with your score. Share hands it with a short line of text to the iOS share sheet, and Save image adds it to your Photos library with your permission. The daily drawing on the cover shares a short line of text only, with no image. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose an app to share it with.

Children

Redrawn is not directed at children under 13. It asks for no personal details from anyone, and the crash and usage data described above is anonymous and not linked to identity.

Your rights

You can ask us what data RevenueCat holds for your install, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing hello@redrawn.ink. Because the identifier is anonymous, we will ask for the date, amount and Apple order ID of a purchase, from your Apple receipt email, so that we can find the record. We can use a Google Play order ID for the same purpose. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

The same address reaches us about crash reports and usage data. Because those carry no identifier you can tell us, we usually cannot single out your records to show or delete them; switching off Share usage data in Settings is the reliable way to stop new usage data being collected.

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure visits with anonymous, cookieless analytics.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date. Material changes are also noted in the app's release notes.
